The Ashbrer stands among Warcraft's legendary swords. Its name bound to a fearsome ability, slaughtering the undead until nothing remains in its wake but ash. Its legend rests on that grim aftermath, a blade associated with the destruction of undead foes and the ash left behind after its strikes.

Before later hands carried it into decisive battles. Alexandros Mcgraine, one of the Silverhands high lords, was the original wielder, known as the Ashbrer himself.

At the second battle for Lights Hope Chapel, Dariion betrayed the Lich King and relinquished Ashbrer to Tyrion Forring. In that moment, the sword was purified. [music] A desperate blow shattered Frostborn with the Ashbringer, releasing the spirits bound within. Champions returned to life by Terrina's Menithil Luz Spirit, then killed Arthus.

Following Fordring's death during the third invasion of the Burning Legion, the Ashbrer passed to his successor, a champion of the light and new high lord of the Silver Hand.
