Thr born Gaul was Durotan and Draka's son. He was former warchief of the restored shamanistic horde. His documented family begins with Durotan and Draka. Thrall founded Durotar in Calumdor.
After the third war, peace required diplomatic effort. Thrall led those efforts between Horde and Alliance. The Forsaken and Blood Elves joined the Horde. Gash's rule brought chaos in Thr's wake. The Pandaria campaign revealed Gash's madness and pride.
Dissension spread within the Horde itself. Thrall stepped back in to defend Horde and allies. Later, war carried the Horde expedition to alternate Drraanor. Thrall aided key battles during that war. There he befriended his parents' counterparts and Frostwolf orcs. His record places him among the second wave of shaman.
