They called him a monster they paid to watch him fight even a prince of Lordaeron Arthas Menethil came to Durnholde to see him but no one in that arena knew his true name years before in the snows north of Loch Modan Durotan and Draka were murdered by Gul'dan's assassins their son survived he was found by Aedelas Blackmoore Lieutenant General of Durnholde
a human woman nursed him her little daughter Taretha could not stop staring at him inside Durnholde Thrall grew up alone behind iron bars Blackmoore wanted more than a beast he had Thrall taught to read to write to think like a human and he had him trained to fight every day every mistake paid in pain one day a cart of captured orcs passed by
one of them thought the humans were attacking the boy he broke his chains and shouted at Thrall to run Thrall did not understand a word he had never heard his own language the orc was killed before his eyes but one person saw more than a slave Taretha began hiding letters inside books for him for the first time someone spoke to Thrall as a friend and he wrote back
in the arena he became a legend undefeated enormous even for an orc but one day he refused to finish the last round Blackmoore made him pay for it Thrall wrote to Taretha that he wanted to escape and she answered that night she created a diversion inside the keep his cell was open the corridors were empty outside the fortress in a cave
she was waiting for him with supplies for the first time in his life Thrall ran free but freedom would not last his freedom was brief and he was again captured but it was only the beginning in the camps the orcs had forgotten who they were broken silent chained but one of them still burned with rage his name was Grom Hellscream
